Woman Narrowly Avoids Tree That Crushed Her Home

A North Carolina woman narrowly avoided harm when Tropical Storm Zeta caused a tree to fall onto her family's home.

As Zeta brought strong winds through the area on Thursday, Casey Simpson was putting away things outside that could possibly blow over when she heard a noise. With no way to stop it, she watched as a tree in her yard fell onto her home. No injures were reported.

"You hear like wood cracking and then you hear it hitting more wood and i just hit my house and I guess, is that all the insulation out? It just looked like it snowed instantly," she said.

Though the incident may seem unique, this isn't the first time it has happened to Simpson's family.

"This happened two years ago to us, except from the other angle, and so I just kept — I was like Lord, just let it go the other way, let it fall the other way because I don't want to deal with the all over again," she said. "We can deal with it in the yard, just let it fall the other way."

Zeta made landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday as a category 2 storm, leaving behind even more devastation in a region that has suffered more than usual this hurricane season.
