TMSG: Tortoise Fell Off Wall & Cracked His Shell Then Gets Repaired

Humpty the tortoise fell off of a 10-foot-wall after he was chased by a neighbor's dog. Luckily the fall wasn't fatal but Humpty's shell broke in three places.

The County of San Diego Animal Services brought the 70-pound tortoise to a veterinarian who specialized in reptiles. That vet drilled screws into the shell and tied it together for stability then utilized a material used in dentures to seal them.

The surgery cost $4,000 and was paid through a donor-driven initiative called the Spirit Fund.

The tortoise, approximately 40 years old, is most likely someone's missing pet. For now he is residing at Gaines Street shelter.

Feel good story because of these people working to save Humpty!
