Carrie Underwood Releases Festive 'Hallelujah' Music Video With John Legend

Carrie Underwood and John Legend are getting in the holiday spirit! The two superstars have released a music video for their new song, "Hallelujah."

In the video, the two singers harmonize in the middle of a whimsical winter wonderland. Underwood stands at a grand piano in a sparkling silver dress while Legend plays and sings.

"Let the world stand still / The church bells ring / Silent night as the angels sing / Hallelujah, Hallelujah / Let the magic warm the moonlit air / Hear the choirs join in singing everywhere / Hallelujah," the duo sings.

"Hallelujah," an original song co-written by Legend with Toby Gad, is featured on Underwood's new Christmas album, My Gift. "This song and its message is much needed right now and I'm honored to have it on my Christmas album, My Gift," Underwood previously said of the track on her Instagram Story last week. "I hope you like it."

The chart-topping album contains a mix of original songs and covers of classics like "O Come, All Ye Faithful," "Silent Night," and "O Holy Night." In addition to Legend, Underwood's five-year-old son Isaiah also appears on the project for a special rendition of "Little Drummer Boy."

"I started working on this album last fall and recorded it in the spring … so I've literally been living with Christmas music for a year now!" Underwood told People earlier this month. "I hope the album will be a soundtrack for people as they prepare for and celebrate Christmas. That would make me happy."

Underwood will bring songs from My Gift to her upcoming HBO Max holiday special airing on December 3. My Gift: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood will feature the country star performing traditional Christmas classics, along with several new songs from her new album. She will be accompanied by her band, as well as a live orchestra and choir, conducted by her longtime friend, Emmy Award-winning musical director Rickey Minor.

"I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Playtone and HBO Max to bring My Gift to life," Underwood said in a statement. "Just like the album, I hope this special will help bring some much-needed joy and become part of the soundtrack to people’s holiday festivities this year as it streams throughout the season and beyond."
