President Postpones Fayetteville Rally Due To Wind Advisory

President Donald Trump's campaign had to postpone his Thursday night rally in Fayetteville because of high winds caused by Hurricane Zeta. The event has been rescheduled to Monday.

Both the president and First Lady Melania Trump were scheduled to speak at the "Make American Great Again Victory Rally," marking the first time the pair has been together on the campaign trail since June.

"Because of wind advisory issued with gusts reaching 50 miles per hour and other weather conditions, the outdoor Fayetteville, NC rally has been postponed until Monday," his campaign said in a statement on Thursday.

In addition to the Fayetteville rally, the presidential pair were going to attend a troop engagement at nearby Fort Bragg. They were scheduled to fly in Thursday afternoon after a campaign event in Tampa, Florida.

The president has been holding multiple rallies in the Tar Heel state with thousands in attendance, causing concerns over potential spread of coronavirus, including from Governor Roy Cooper. Just last week, President Trump's rally in Gastonia drew a crowd of at least 23,000 in a time where North Carolina's cases and positivity rate have increased.

"I am really concerned with campaigns that are flying all over the place, coming into North Carolina, and holding these large events gathering groups together and then leaving," said Gov. Cooper. "We're seeing more of a concentration (of COVID-19 cases) in rural areas and we're seeing it more in the white population. We're seeing spread, and there's no way that large gatherings over long periods of time with people standing together — there's no way that helps things. What we need right now is the opposite. We need people taking responsibility."
