Odell Beckham's Injury Status Determined

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been placed on the Physically unable to perform list, which will rule him inactive for the first four games of the 2024 NFL season.

Beckham, 31, was excluded from the Dolphins' official 53-man roster prior to Tuesday's (August 27) deadline for all NFL teams ahead of Week 1. The former All-Pro hadn't practiced since signing with the Dolphins this offseason, though head coach Mike McDaniel expressed optimism while addressing his status last week.

"I'm hopeful about a lot of things," McDaniel said via the Palm Beach Post. "Again, I'm not nervous about it. You hope, but you have to listen to people's bodies and be very communicative. I know he's feeling very optimistic about how things are developing, but you just take one day at a time. And like I said before, I'm not in a position of nervousness because of the way that he's been involved. He's found a way to be a leader of sorts without playing. That's tough to do, but his mindset's right, and so I feel good about that."

Beckham's injury diagnosis hasn't been disclosed, however, he's had a history of knee issues. The former Pro Bowler signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins in May after spending the past season with the Baltimore Ravens, having joined the franchise last offseason.

Beckham recorded 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns in six starts and 14 total appearances. The 31-year-old was a Super Bowl champion during his lone season with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, as well as a two-time second-team All-Pro, three-time Pro Bowler and the 2014 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year during his first five seasons with the New York Giants.
