6 North Carolina Destinations Named Among The 'Most Fun Cities In America'

Do you think you live in the most fun city in North Carolina? A new report proves that you don't have to travel too far for a good time — you don't even have to leave the state!

WalletHub compared nearly 200 cities around the country to determine the "most fun cities in America," and while many of the top spots are major tourist destinations like Las Vegas, Orlando and Chicago, plenty of less-visited but equally as interesting locales received a shoutout. In fact, six cities in North Carolina found a spot on the list:

  • No. 41: Charlotte
  • No. 44: Raleigh
  • No. 83: Durham
  • No. 85: Winston-Salem
  • No. 92: Greensboro
  • No. 97: Fayetteville

Coming in at No. 41 overall, Charlotte is not only the "most fun" city in the Tar Heel State but it's one of the most entertaining in the entire country, earning high marks in the nightlife & parties category.

These are the Top 10 most fun cities in the U.S.:

  2. Orlando, Florida
  3. Miami, Florida
  4. Atlanta, Georgia
  5. New Orleans, Louisiana
  6. Austin, Texas
  7. San Francisco, California

To determine its ranking, WalletHub compared 182 cities across the America using three factors: entertainment & recreation, nightlife & parties and costs. These factors were then evaluated using 65 relevant metrics, including number of attractions, diversity of restaurants, sports venues per capita, movie theaters per capita, ideal weather, amusement parks per capita, bar accessibility, music venues per capita, comedy clubs per capita, average beer price, movie costs, average food price, cost of living and more.
