Nate Smith teamed up with HARDY to convince Kevin James to break up with his girlfriend.

Smith released “Nobody Likes Your Girlfriend” on Friday (February 21), a collaboration with HARDY that features actor and comedian James in the music video. The storytelling visual opens with a Public Service Announcement: “if you or someone you know has been subject to a girlfriend nobody likes, there are resources available via our website.” The PSA directs viewers to www.breakupwithher.net.

James stars as the duo's best friend in the Spidey Smith-directed video. The reigning Academy of Country Music New Male Artist of the Year joins forces with country-rock powerhouse HARDY to break it to James that “nobody likes your girlfriend.” Ex-girlfriend Fiona is played by Amanda Mertz, and Fiona’s friend is played by Sophia La Courte.

“Dude, I am so floored that (HARDY) was willing to” collaborate, Smith said in a video posted on Instagram when the song released. “He’s somebody that I look up to, and he’s doing the collab with me. So, (it’s) kind of unreal. (It's) unbelievably generous of you. Thank you so much, HARDY. Kevin James, thank you from the bottom of my heart, bro. You came on your own dime, you did the music video. It’s so special. I appreciate it. ...I think it’s a smash. It’s a summer song.” Smith added on Friday that the new video is “absolutely FERAL!!!”

Smith revealed HARDY as his mystery collaboration partner earlier this month after sharing a few sneak peeks of the heartbreak anthem. He confirmed James stars in the video after hinting at “the next surprise person,” who is “not a musician.”

“Nobody Likes Your Girlfriend” is Smith’s latest song to release since he delivered his sophomore record, California Gold. The 16-track album includes “Fix What You Didn’t Break,” “Can You Die From A Broken Heart” with Avril Lavigne, “Bulletproof,” “California Gold,” “I Like It” with Alesso and more. The album followed Smith’s self-titled debut project and deluxe edition that released in 2023. Smith said in a recent interview with iHeartCountry that California Gold “was just a great record to make. I’m really proud of it for a sophomore album. There’s a lot of Easter eggs and nuggets in there. Especially in ‘California Gold,’ the title track, there’s a few things about my hometown and stuff.” He also teased what’s next for him in 2025, including working on new music and hitting the road on tour.
