Ashley Cooke insists she wasnât trying to âstart dramaâ when she accidentally dropped âthe F wordâ in front of her boyfriendâs family â but not the âF wordâ most listeners probably expect.
Rather than cursing, however, Cooke admits she said âIâd probably spend forever with you,â in the cleverly-written lyrics, and âthe early declaration causes her to cringe,â notes a press release from her record label.. The Academy of Country Music New Female Artist of the Year nominee debuted âthe f wordâ on Friday (April 18).
âThis song immediately caught my attention from the title,â Cooke said a statement of the ballad written by Lori McKenna, Gordie Sampson and Emily Weisband. âIt's brilliantly written and resonates with an experience I had in a past relationshipâŠThe song starts with 'I try not to swear,' which cracks me up because I have the mouth of a sailor, often using many f-words.â
Cooke announced the release date of âthe f wordâ â and delivered the first-ever live performance for the crowd of 20,000 â when she opened for powerhouse singer-songwriter Kane Brown last week at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The âyour placeâ star also performed âthe f wordâ earlier this year at the Country Radio Seminar (CRS) in Music City, notes the release.
Cooke said on Friday, âthis song takes me back to the first time I met a guyâs mom and accidentally word vomited that weâd get married đ« itâs for the fall fasters, the lovers, the hopeless romantics.. and itâs now all yours.â
