Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard was diagnosed with a torn left Achilles tendon, which will effectively rule him out for the rest of the postseason, source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Shams Charania on Monday (April 28).
"Just in: Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard has been diagnosed with a torn left Achilles tendon, sources tell ESPN. MRI today revealed the severity. A devastating end to his season," Charania wrote on his X account.
Lillard, 34, suffered the injury during the Bucks' Game 4 loss to the Indiana Pacers while attempting to keep an offensive rebound alive before falling onto the court without contact. The nine-time All-Star stayed on the ground during the Pacers' offensive possession and appeared to grab his left foot before sitting with his elbows on his knees prior to play being stopped.
Lillard needed assistance as he was taken off the floor and into the locker room before later exiting the arena in a walking boot and on crutches, with head coach Doc Rivers telling reporters that his injury status was "not promising." The 34-year-old had previously been diagnosed with deep vein thombosis in his right leg about one month prior to his latest injury, which included missing the Bucks' final 14 regular-season games and Game 1 of the playoffs before returning during the last two games.
Lillard, who averaged 24.9 points, 7.1 assists and 4.7 rebounds during the 2024-25 regular-season, averaged 7.0 points, and 4.7 assists in three postseason games.
